Whity-Knity Winter

I love thick chunky knits in the winter time, most likely because I live in Minnesota--so our winters get pretty darn cold. Additionally with this look I would advise layering, maybe some leggings underneath to start or skinny jeans, a nice soft long-sleeve v-neck, the chunky knit and in colder conditions the addition of a cozy scarf and hat. The look is comfortable and practical, plus it's been seen throughout the pages of current fashion magazines, so its a go! This is how to survive a Minnesotan winter in a nutshell--oh and don't forget the wool socks with some uggs!

Faux Fur Fashion

Fur isn't for everyone, some love it while other's despise what it represents... My thoughts are that i'm more of a faux fur kind of person to begin with, the exception for me is that I have a few gorgeous pieces handed down from my great grandma who was a complete fashionista to say the least. Some things from her collection include a full length coyote coat (not really my style) , some kind of earmuffs, a sheared peach mink sweater (i love this one, but there is never an occasion to showcase it), and a few others. None of them are really everyday wear type of accessories, but on a blizzard-type day we'll see. To conclude, wearing fur isn't only for cruela devil, but the real stuff now a days sometimes just looks wrong, and its sometimes more fun to mix and match with a bunch a faux!
bearry cute, love big furry hats in the winter time!!
There is something about furs whether they are faux or real that adds a little sophistication and interest to an everyday outfit. I adore this look!

If fur is good enough for Chanel, it must be luxury for everyone else! These two photos are Chanel inspirations, because, well Chanel is always the best-in my opinion. I love the full on oufits-so eccentric & interesting. Additionally, this is one example where faux fur is made to look chic not cheap, which if your going to go that route is very important in the purchasing process, nobody aspires to look like a plastic rat. ick.

Idolistic; Gwen Stefani

well ladies you know what they say...blondes do have more fun! Clearly expressed through Gwen's fun monochromatic models.

whoever said less is more is clearly off kilter here because she looks fabulous.

Prints & Patterns-she definetly knows how to dress to inspire me.

One of my favorite icons of all time is Gwen Stefani. When was the last time you saw her infamously receiving a DWI, or leaving her son defenseless in a ninety degree car? That's right, never. She is an amazing rolemodel due to her wacky sense of reality and glam lifestyle along with her ability to flawlessly reinvent herself nearly every decade--remaining forever more an idol. Not only do I adore her persona, but also her style is simply impeccable. Every time she is caught by the paparazzi, whether she is strolling down the streets or at a huge event, her look is always immaculate. Even her son, is always dressed to tackle anything in his way. All of her music videos are wonderfully done, my favorites as of now are in her album Sweet Escape, which like all her albums sold like mad. I specifically like ‘4 in the morning’ and ‘early winter.’ She has also since popularized her haute couture line LAMB, which has really hit some major runways and is continually bringing new styles to fashion season after season. love, love, love, love her.

Big on Boho Chic

Lately, I've been in love with Nicole Richie's classic boho-chic style. Her biggest trick is the use of layering classic pieces like white v-necks under thin cardigans or jackets. The look is very versatile and comfortable as well as extremely practical in everyday life. Other celebrities that inspire me with this style include; Sienna Miller, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, last but not least, Kate Moss. All incorporate simple clothing choices, layered with trendy accessories and shoes any girl would covet. This fashion choice is certainly more laid back compared to say, Lady Gaga, but then again not everyone wants to be the center of attention all the time:)

Vintage Vogue

Vintage is a style which tends to teeter-totter between being old lady and being an irreplacable classic, While shopping at a vintage store in uptown this past winter my best friend was about to buy the most adorable vintage floral shirt--but before she slid her card looked at me and said "i think my grandma would wear this..." it was then that the counter clerk said...thats the best part about it, you can wear these clothes which you will probably still wear as a grandma and you can bet that your grandchildren will be asking the same question! That's when the circle of style literally hit me like a ton of bricks...fashion really does circulate, yes there is such a thing as something that will never come back into style--and in most cases...thank god for that, but in other cases the circulation of classics is a really interesting concept to fashion. In order to add credibility to my thought pattern, i have posted some delectible vintage fashion pictures!! enjoy!

Rationale; Fashion is Subjective

I've found that to vent oneself through fashion can be one of the best ways to entertain myself, having spend most likely hundreds of hours flipping through magazines one after the other since I was still in diapers. And it's not just me, there are hundreds of thousands everyday doing the same thing, because everyone is after the same thing, to be effected personally by these magazines, runway shows, and all other mass media aspects. I know that's how it is for me, the second I flip that issue open I'm in another world, mesmerized by all of it. I have high hopes of someday being entirely immersed into the world of high fashion and excess, in means of career track and being able to experience all aspects of fashion.
